April is passionate about gymnastics, dance, cheer, fitness, teaching her students, and living a healthy lifestyle. She opened Capital Gymnastics to share her passion, knowledge, love and experiences with her students and staff. She strives to keep a positive and encouraging environment for everyone at Capital Gymnastics. April began gymnastics at the age of 3 and has never looked back since. Her experiences have taken her from Kentucky to Colorado to California to Arizona and Wisconsin. She has coached under Olympic coaches, taught gymnastics, tumbling, cheerleading and acrobatics in gyms and dance studios, and she has run her own programs for the last 14 years. April was a competitive gymnast until the age of 14, a cheerleader throughout high school, and she performed as a dancer and acrobat with the Northern Kentucky University Dance Troupe throughout college. She worked as an acrobat in a circus in Los Angeles, danced and sang in musicals in Cincinnati and Denver, and worked on music videos and commercials in Los Angeles and Phoenix. April ran a mobile gymnastics school in Phoenix where she was the varsity tumbling coach for 5 high school cheerleading squads, where the focus was on tumbling, strength and conditioning and jump perfection. In Wisconsin, she owned Capital Gymnastics Academy for 8 years until her husband’s job required a move back to Arizona. She has coached and trained gymnasts, dancers and cheerleaders ranging in ages 3-18, from preschool, developmental, and recreational level through compulsory and optional competitive team levels, and has developed numerous state champions.
April feels blessed to have had experiences that have given her so many amazing opportunities to travel, perform, compete, dance, teach and help students follow their dreams. April continues to develop knowledge and training methods to offer top quality instruction.
April has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Dance minor from Northern Kentucky University. Safety and Continuing Education are priorities and mandatory for April and her staff. She continues to expand her knowledge by keeping current with courses and certifications offered by USA Gymnastics.
